The I²BM research programs are centred on biomedical imaging and aim at a better understanding of the brain functioning and the development of new therapeutics approaches of several diseases such as neurological disease and cancers.

Imaging facilities The institute has 3 imaging facilities.It employs about 400 technicians, engineers, and researchers. It is divided in 3 departments located in Île-de-France and 2 research units located off sites in the cities of Caen (Normandy) and Bordeaux (Aquitaine)
