Specificity of the fœtal testis: direct target for androgens
Using a MOUSE model where the androgen receptor gene has been knocked out, the Department of research into gonad differentiation and radiobiology (joint CEA/INSERM U566/Paris 7 and Paris 11 universities, the IRCM, CEA Fontenay-aux-Roses) revealed that (male hormone) androgens exert an inhibitor effect on the proliferation of male foetal germ cells.
