When light governs gene expression
Researchers from the CEA, CNRS and IRD have just shown for the first time in photosynthetic bacteria the existence of a new type of phytochrome (protein acting as a light receptor) able to regulate protein synthesis under appropriate light exposure. This discovery, which has promising applications, is described in the 9 May 2002 issue of the journal Nature.
