Copper transport and oxidative stress

Researchers in the Department of Plant Cell Physiology (DRDC, CEA Grenoble), jointly with the Department of Membrane Exchanges and Signalling (DEVM CEA Cadarache), have shown the existence of a second pathway for copper import into the chloroplast. This pathway enables a finer regulation of copper concentration in response in particular to oxidative stress.

Protection against oxidative stress by vitamin E

For the first time in vivo , a team from the Department of Plant Ecophysiology and Microbiology (DEVM, CEA Cadarache), jointly with researchers at the Max Planck Institute (Germany), has demonstrated that vitamin E plays an important role in protecting plants from photo-oxidative stress.
