SHAMASH

"Production of lipid biofuel by microalgae"

PNRB program, ANR financing for a duration of 36 months.

Coordinator: O. Bernard, INRIA Sophia-Antipolis

Objectives

This project has for objective to produce a biofuel from autotrophic microalgae. These microorganisms can accumulate until 50 % of their dry weight in fatty acids, allowing to envisage yields for one hectare 30 times higher than the ground oleaginous species.
The Shamash project integrates specialists of the culture, the physiology and the use of microalgae, specialists of the optimization of the biotechnological processes as well as specialists of biofuels and the extraction and the purification of lipids.
