CEA-led medical imaging research on the central nervous system

CEA
Nervous system disorders represent a major public health challenge. As a partner on Brain Awareness Week, held 15 to 21 March 2010, the CEA delivered a cross-discipline review covering various aspects of its medical imaging research on the central nervous system.

Nervous system disorders, which span neurological and psychiatric disorders to hearing loss and vision loss, are a major public health challenge. Over a third of the population is or will be affected by these disorders, which often become chronic or debilitating due to the lack of specifically-targeted treatments.

As a partner on Brain Awareness Week, held 15 to 21 March 2010, the CEA delivered a cross-discipline review covering various aspects of its medical imaging research on the central nervous system. What are the technological challenges we need to overcome, not just in terms of instrument design and engineering but also new contrast agents enabling an even finer imaging analysis? What advantages can computer-aided neuroimaging offer? What are the latest discoveries in cognitive neuroscience?
