Duration
The duration of a contract for Doctoral Studies is 3 years.
Salary
The salary of the grant holder for the duration of the thesis contract is nationally and internationally competitive. It will depend on the previous training of the student, in agreement with current CEA regulations.
Supervision of the thesis
Throughout the 3 years of training, the PhD student will be supervised by a thesis director holding an accreditation to supervise students (the “Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches”). The thesis director will be engaged in day-to-day supervision. In the case particular problems are identified during the doctoral program, they will be discussed with the thesis director, the leader of the group (or of the laboratory) and/or the Directing Committee of the Program.
Formal Training
The student will belong to the Doctoral School (Ecole Doctorale, ED) to which his/her host laboratory is affiliated. The student will follow the courses offered by the ED as well as an additional, mandatory course that is more specifically aimed at familiarizing the students with industry. This latter course is provided by the CEA Doctoral Program in collaboration with the CEA national institute of sciences and techniques (INSTN, Saclay).
The Diploma
At the end of the training, the doctoral student is required to defend his/her thesis at the University where the student is registered.
