Bioenergies

Studying life forms for inspiration in the design of new sources of energy.

Acquired expertise in the fields of photosynthesis and hydrogenases, combined with more applied knowledge such as the design of catalysts, is the foundation of research for developing third generation biofuels. Two paths are pursued: exploring the potential of microorganisms to produce high-energy substrates (e.g. hydrogen, lipids), as well as the development of catalytic processes (through a biomimetic approach) to convert solar energy into hydrogen.
