The International PhD Program in Life Sciences

The application session for 2010 has ended on March 15, 2010 at 12:00 noon.

Welcome to the site of the International PhD Program of the Life Sciences (DSV) department of the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA).

The International PhD Program was created by the Direction des Sciences du Vivant (DSV) of the CEA to attract students who wish to do a thesis financed by the CEA with one of the DSV research groups.
This program takes advantage of the considerable strengths of the CEA in a wide variety of biological fields and is centered around existing groups of excellence and high-tech platforms. Scientific problems can be addressed using state-of-the-art approaches, reflecting the goal of the DSV to become one of the major players in biology in France. The CEA works in collaboration with local Doctoral Schools and Universities to offer students a high level doctoral training. Students enrolled in the Doctoral Program of the CEA follow a course in English offered by the Institut National des Sciences et Techniques Nucléaires (INSTN, Saclay) to introduce them to the professional world.

Research groups from the Paris region (at Evry, Fontenay aux Roses, Orsay and Saclay), Rhône-Alpes (at Grenoble), Basse-normandie (at Caen), Languedoc-Roussillon (at Marcoule), and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (at Cadarache) participate in this program.

The diverse array of research topics available reflect the (research) themes at the CEA: Environmental sciences and host-pathogen interactions, Structural biology and biophysics, Bio-organic and bio-inorganic chemistry, DNA Studies and Post-genomics, Nanosciences, Functional and Molecular Imaging, Neurosciences, Oncology and Carcinogenesis, Technologies for Health and Medicine.
